![]() ![]() Most of the classic sounds are included, from the whoosh of the driver to the plopping of the ball on the fairway. The sound effects of the game, however are very nice. If there were a few more caddies to pick from, it would dull this annoyance quite a bit, but because there is not, players that find them of an annoyance will just have to suffer. ![]() The caddies’ voices get VERY repetitive about four or so hours into the game. When first starting the game, the sound is actually delighting and fits the mood and atmosphere of this quirky golf game quite well. The sound of Hot Shots Golf: Open Tee is its weakest aspect. This framerate is not bothersome at all because it is a golf game, therefore not requiring a high framerate like a racing sim or a FPS. On another note, the framerate is quite solid, as it never drops below thirty frames per second, but it never makes it to the sixty mark either. I personally, was agitated at first, but slowly became more accustomed to the crazy textures. This might sound frightening, but it is only an annoyance to some people, while to others it is not. One of the textures is filtered, while the other is not and it looks as though they are battling for dominance. The textures on the fairways and the greens are misaligned and shifty. Although, the style remains very true to the series with disproportional, cutesy Japanese characters and brightly colored courses and backgrounds, there is a minor graphical issue. The overall graphical quality of Hot Shots Golf: Open Tee is good, but not great. Aside from a few minor problems, I find this to be the best golf game on the PSP and a console-quality portable title. All of the features that you would expect out of a golf game are included plus tons of unlockables, which adds immensely to the replay value. Hot Shots Golf: Open Tee for the PSP is absolutely no lightweight in this series. ![]() However, Hot Shots Golf is wildly cute, brightly colored, and a great fast-paced golf game. Before playing this game, I had never enjoyed golf games because of their RPG-like patience and time requisite. Ever since I played Hot Shots Golf for PlayStation, I was hooked. It's not just about the golf with this one.By xellex1213 | Review Date: JThe Hot Shots Golf series continues to wow me with its highly addictive gameplay and overall fun factor. All in all HSG: Open Tee is a must buy for anyone who owns a PSP. I know I find myself smack talking the AI players I play against in "Stroke Play" matches anyway. I haven't had a chance to play it multi-player, but I imagine it's just as fun and addictive if not more so (who doesn't want to smack talk their buddy when they hit that 50+ foot putt?). I have not played Tiger Woods Golf for the PSP, but on a handheld game I think I'd rather have the 3-click swing than using the analog stick personally anyway. I know some hardcore "golf sim" fans are upset about the "3-click swing" mechanism, but I think it works very, very well in this game. Being able to decide which of the open challenges you want to tackle next, and subsequently which item/character to unlock, puts you in control of what comes next. makes it almost have a RPG feel in the building of your characters. Unlocking characters, outfits, accessories, clubs, balls, courses, etc. From the moment I stepped onto the first tee box I was hooked. I've been looking for that one game that would make the 250 bucks I shelled out for my PSP worth it.
